One of the big reason the title of this article is "Chinese Democracy". The subtitle of the article is "Why don't we ever hear about the Asian-American vote?". People can not hear about this issue if the headline on the newspaper didn't address them.

80-20 is a good concept. The problem is former Delaware Lt. Gov. S.B. Woo. His affiliated party is Democrat. He can pull people together on voter rights issues, discrimination at the voting places, or issues which Asian Americans have a same common. He is Chinese. Most of Chinese were voting for the Democrat party.

My friend told me that when he was elected in a bipartisan organization as president but when they found out that he is a Republican in California during his college year then they tried to do anything to remove him. That's a real problem in politic.

About the ground game in Virginia, John McCain wrote off in this article. This is a major problem of underestimating John McCain camps in Virginia and relying too much on the polls and previous win of Jim Webb.

While Obam was hiring Betsy Kim and recruits volunteers in recent month, John McCain already mobolized the ground game by using a young Vietnamese volunteer from Maryland (a Republican delegate from the primary election) with some Bush volunteers (old Vietnamese Americans with background in journalist and connection to the media and who worked with other Asian communities in Northern Virginia) before primary election. We don't know if he will get help or already get help from Asian American or Vietnamese American volunteers from Bush campaign yet.

Oops I already said too much. I will try to see how Barack Obama team ground game with the help of Vietnamese American volunteers in the area which I already knew these faces. I just turn on the television at home to see the debate between Sarah Palin and Joseph Biden tonight with my family tonight.

Eden Center is "McCain Nation" during the Mid-Autumn Festival
September 27, 2008

Contact: Shandon Phan (202) 415-3366

(Falls Church, Virginia) The Vietnamese Americans for McCain-Palin Coalition today hosted a Voter Registration & Outreach booth at the Mid-Autumn Festival inside Eden Center, a Vietnamese community hub in Northern Virginia.

The Mid-Autumn festival is a traditional Vietnamese celebration of abundance and togetherness. Despite hard rain in the morning, thousands of people gathered at the popular shopping center to celebrate this joyous festival.

The McCain-Palin booth attracted so many visitors throughout the day that volunteers worked non-stop and some did not even have a chance to grab their first meal until 6pm. Many people wanted to discuss issues and find out how to get involved, while others simply wanted to send their best wishes to the McCain-Palin team and provided the McCain volunteers with refreshments and words of encouragement.

By 6pm, over 800 fliers and 250 stickers were given out. The volunteers left Eden Center, exhausted but obviously proud of their effort.

"We couldn't be more pleased to see the outpouring of support for Senator McCain from our community members, especially those of younger generations." said Shandon Phan, National Co-Chair of the Vietnamese Americans for McCain-Palin Coalition. "We recruited many volunteers today and did an effective job in informing our community members about the clear differences between Sen. McCain and his opponent."

"Elephants never forget," announced Chu Nguyen, a coalition member and a Republican, echoing the community's respect for and appreciation of Senator McCain's courageous service and sacrifices in protecting American honor and freedom for the Vietnamese people as well as for his leadership in sponsoring legislations that brought tens of thousands of Vietnamese political prisoners and their families to the United States after the war.

Two weeks ago, some members of the group had the opportunity to meet with Sen. McCain, who surprised them with a sudden visit at the campaign headquarters, where the group was volunteering. Both Sen. McCain and his brother Joe, who is also a Vietnam veteran, wished the Vietnamese community a joyous Mid-Autumn festival celebration on two separate occasions.

"With the large population of Vietnamese in the area, our community can make a big difference in this tight race," said Phan. "The Obama camp is here as well but makes no mistake… Eden Center is a 'McCain Nation.'"

Vietnamese volunteers in Potomac area from both John McCain and Barack Obama camp are forced to register new Vietnamese voters. You can check our website for pictures of their booths in Eden Center on Tet Trung Thu (Moon festival, Mid-Autumn festival) .

http://www.vietvoters.info (click Virginia)

It is major change.

Gone: no longer wait for Vietnamese non-profit organizations to register voters by bipartisan way.

Gone: Vietnamese volunteers from both camps can not hide their agenda or their identities by working in non-profit group with pushing their own agenda in the name of Vietnamese community.

Gone: Vietnamese in both Republic and Democrat camps can not lay back under umbrella of Asian Americans. They are forcing to work harder by both camps because of close races.

Some mistakes are resulted of their party campaign drive stalled in Vietnamese American communtiy by their campaing headquarter careless on handling/answering letters of Vietnamese community leaders asking for something when the polls are not closed. They just can't juse Asian Americans to register Vietnamese voters.

Dear Friends,

Attached is a letter from Senator Barack Obama in Vietnamese on the
occassion of the Mid-Autumn Festival. I think this shows great cultural
awareness of an important Vietnamese day of unity and sharing among
families and friends.

Please forward this on to your Vietnamese American friends for reading
and dissemination.
Dear friends and fellow Asian Americans,

Asian Americans are helping Barack Obama gain the lead over his opponent in a very tight race in VA. We need your help to widen that gap, so that VA will elect a Democratic President for the first time in 44 years!

This is an election where everyone should get involved because our economic future depends on it. Barack Obama will be the President to lead us out of the economic crisis.

Please see the email below for all the different events and ways that you can participate.

YES WE CAN!
